The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) is the official currency of Pakistan. It was introduced in 1947 when Pakistan gained independence. The currency is regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan. The rupee is subdivided into 100 paise, although coins of less than one rupee are rarely used in modern transactions.
